Are Your Customers Tech Evangelists?

Are your customers tech evangelists? An article at Website Magazine reports:
"A recent study from International Data Corporation reveals what many mobile marketers have simply assumed all along – that targeting “tech evangelists” will lead to a higher return on investment and greater success with mobile apps."

When you know who your customers are, what drives them to buy, and what inspires them to share information, it's easy create content and personalize their experience with your company.

As a society we've become better researchers because of the Internet and mobile apps. Thought research was just for college, eh? We've become more informed and can make better shopping decisions. We have choices about who we want to do business with. We no longer rely on what a business tells us ("Oh, we're the best!") Best of all, we can actually check to find out by doing a simple web search if they're the real deal or just paying us lip service.

We've shared before how the use of mobile apps has become rampant in recent years. People who own a smart phone are more likely to be active on social sites such as Facebook or Twitter. When you do offer better service, people are more apt to pass on information or recommend products on your website. They'll gladly "like" your status update or retweet to their followers.

Segmenting Your Customers

Through web analytics, customer surveys, and other testing, you can determine which of your customers are tech evangelists. Once you figure that out, you can create deeper relationships with these customers by providing helpful and interesting content via email or social media channels. You become a source of timely, useful information, which inspires customers to quickly and easily share with their friends with their phone, tablet, or whatever tech item of choice they use.

Here’s an article about customer segmenting for more information about this:

The challenge for businesses now is ensuring that the content and design of their sites translates well via these various channels and devices. Is the site user friendly and can visitors find the info they're looking for quickly?

So your mission now - should you accept it - is to offer great service to all of your customers, not just the tech evangelists :)
